As governments have failed to take sufficient action to mitigate this unprecedented climate crisis, a youth-led global strike will take place on September 20th all over the world. With 1 week to go to the Global Climate Strikes and the UN Climate Summit, join Bill Mckibben 350.org, Harjeet Singh ActionAid, Dr. Doreen Stabinsky scientist, U.S. youth climate striker Jerome Foster, and other young strikers from across the globe for an online press conference. They will be giving their views on strategies to overcome the climate breakdown, and answering questions.

The press conference will cover expectations for the UNSG Summit, plans for the mobilizations on the 20th and 27th of September, what are the demands of youth activists and next steps for the climate movement post strikes. The presser conference will consist of a short talk from each participant, followed by an opportunity to ask questions.

Members of the media are invited to join and should register here. As soon as the form is filled, we will send the orientations of how to connect to the online press conference.

ABOUT THE MOVEMENT

Strikers are calling on people from all around the world to join a week of escalated climate action. This begins on the 20th of September with a youth-led climate strike, which will culminate in the first ever global general strike on the 27th. We’re calling on everyone to join this movement and stand with the youth who have been sacrificing their education to unleash an unprecedented demonstration of unified resistance around the world.

This is just the beginning: plans are already in place for further action to continue pressuring governments and corporations. The next wave of internationally coordinated actions begins in October with the first materialisation of what will continue into 2020 as a convergence of many organizations united as a “movement of movements”, marking a turning point in human history.
